There are some nice features that weren't available previously. I finally updated to Adobe LR Classic CC after using LR6 for a long time. 2, which provides RAW support for additional camera models and lens profiles. I have the sad feeling LR Classic CC may end up that way too as Adobe seems to be focusing on Instagram, I mean, the "new' Lightroom CC.ĭoesn't Sony still have the huge discount on Capture 1? Its something like $50. Unfortunately the standalone LR is on its way to sunset.

I would love to have that update with my standalone 6. It kind of sucks because the latest CC update has significant performance improvement.

Had that not come around, I would have been on Capture One Pro for Sony and LR 6.14 (for non-Sony pics). Keep an eye out at Digital Innovations for Capture One Pro at a discount. Lightroom 7.3 and Adobe Camera Raw 10.3 has changed the way camera profiles are applied Adobe has changed the camera profile location in updates that launched. Looks like my life just got more complicated-and possibly, more expensive. The A7III is not included in LR 6.14 and will only be supported by Adobe in their RAW updates for Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom through their subscription services. The A9 and the A7rIII are supported by LR6.14 and in fact the A7rIII was included in I believe the last update. Adobe will not provide anymore updates to Lightroom 6 and will not offer any standalone version in the future. Support for Hindi and Norwegian languages, the latest cameras and lenses. There arent many updates here, but for Apple, Nikon, and Parrot. Unfortunately Adobe made the last update to Lightroom 6 to 6.14 in December. Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is a free, powerful photo editor and camera app that. The latest Lightroom updates include upgrades for features and an extension of supported camera and lenses.

Although I don't love the idea of being locked into Adobe's subscription service, I do find value in keeping the software up to date and having access to the more robust features of Photoshop when needed. I can't imagine going back to LR6 standalone anymore. On the topic of LR6 though-personally, I've been much happier with Lightroom Classic CC (aka 7) since the 7.2 update due to the performance improvements. You would have to convert to DNG and then LR6 will import the images just fine (but locking you into Adobe's system in a different way).

This approach would’ve a option for a non CC version.Īdobe Digital Negative Converter is free and will support conversion to DNG for new cameras like the A7III. I convert alll my files to DNG so it would have little impact on my workflow in LR but would add a conversion step outside. Not sure since I have the sub, but you could find a tool to convert the files to DNG and then bring them in. Looks like the A7RIII and A9 are supported with version 6 which will no longer be updated.Ĭheck capture one and On1 Photo Raw, they have a standalone version as well as a subscription based plan 7Riiii and 7iii)? I've read mixed articles of how long they will continue to support version 6 as they clearly want everyone to move to subscription services. Does anyone know if Adobe is providing updates to Version 6 that would support Sony's new A7 offerings (i.e. I've not yet purchased Lightroom I'm not a fan of subscription service (separate conversation) and am considering buying Version 6.

Adobe Lightroom (standalone Version 6) and updates to support new A7x cameras.Which DNG or Camera RAW version will best fit Lightroom 5.7.

In addition Adobe Digital Negative Converter talks about Lightroom version 4.1 matching Camera Raw 7.1, but the next is Lightroom version 11.2 matching Camera RAW 11.2.ĭoes Adobe deny the existence of Lightroom versions 5.x (and 6)? What adds to the confusion is that the major versions of Camera RAW seem to be 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, and 13. The converter talks about Camera RAW versions, not about DNG or Lightroom versions. Apple does not yet support the 80D raws, but I am afraid that you might need. Unfortunately I'm confused with the settings of the DNG Converter: Adobe should support it wiht Camera RAW 9.5. The DNG written is DNG Version 1.4, still containing the CFA (not linearized AFAIK), but Lightroom 5.7.1 seems to handle it (i.e.: it's selectable for import). So I downloaded the latest DNG converter (version 14.1) to convert the RAW files to DNG. After buying a new camera I realized that Lightroom 5.7.1 (Adobe stopped to sell permanent licenses, so I did not (and won't) upgrade) would not recognize the newer RAW format (Panasonic Raw Version: 0390).
